The Nourish Cafe
UKHarvest are a not-for-profit environmental food rescue charity based in Chichester, we collect quality excess food from commercial outlets and deliver it, direct and free of charge, to charities and organisations feeding vulnerable people and people who are food insecure. From inception in March 2017, we have grown to support over 110 charities, delivering 27,500 meals per week, saving over 705 tonnes of good food from going to landfill. We currently rescue around 7.69 tonnes of food per week, of 80% is fresh, perishable. We have educated over 500 people and worked with a broad range of people within the community ranging from young carers, young people in care, young families in early intervention programmes (IPEH), school children and young people in education, university students, families on low incomes, homeless people in hostel accommodation; anyone who needs nutritional education on how to make the most of the nutritional value of the food they purchase and to reduce food waste, especially on low incomes. We use rescued, surplus (waste) food in all of our classes, awareness raising events and surplus suppers/lunches (pop-up restaurants). Our mission in the UK is to ‘Nourish our Nation’: eliminating hunger and food waste through the redistribution of good food, educating and engaging with communities and inspiring innovation.
We are now delighted to announce we will be opening The Nourish Café in Drapers Yard Chichester. The only café around that cooks entirely with fresh, delicious surplus ingredients, bringing you a vegan & vegetarian menu that changes every day.
Yes, that’s right – every day!
Pop in from 10am Tuesday – Saturday and try our breakfast options; for lunch choose from jacket potatoes with a variety of toppings, or a freshly made soup, sharing plates for a quick refuel, a daily ‘guest’ curry or chilli, there’s plenty of choice. Eat in or take away – the choice is yours. If you choose to take away and bring your own container, we’ll knock 50p off the price!
Best of all, you can eat well in the knowledge that every penny you spend will help UKHarvest to feed people who are food insecure.
